Comfort

What is comfort? .. Altrusa club members partnering with Starting Point: Services for Victims of Domestic & Sexual Violence have been providing comfort bags to Grace House (shelter) for the residents who seek shelter. These comfort bags include personal care items (shampoo, body wash, hair brush, scrubbies, soap, tooth brush, tooth paste etc). This project has been on-going for several years. This year with the renovations to Grace House coming to completion, Altrusa is helping to fulfill a dream of the staff and residents... to have a Comfort Closet at Grace house. As you can see from the photos it involves having stocked shelves that the resident can "shop" at for items that they need. We might call these items necessities but they do bring comfort. Grace house provides shelter to individuals and to families. As we go forward Altrusa hopes to put in place a system to restock missing items on a monthly basis. We'll have shopping lists for bulk items and our members will shop and be reimbursed, but we will also have an opportunity to collect items to be donated each month. If you have items you'd like to donate, get them to an Altrusa club member or come to one of our meetings and we'll deliver items once a month to restock the shelves. More details will be shared at our March 3rd meeting. If you don't live in the Mount Washington Valley area, consider searching your area and finding a shelter to support. A regular donation of paper towels, or toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish soap, bar soap, shampoo can go a long way to provide comfort to those in a shelter. Make this a planned act of kindness! Everyone can make a difference in helping others. #Altrusa #Altrusadistrictone #Altrusaservice #ActsofKindness
